This award is a global recognition of the social initiatives promoted by the company in the country.
To motivate, support, and highlight the social and environmental actions implemented by Sonepar companies and employees, Colam Entreprendre created the COLAM SUSTAINABILITY AWARDS, an important award and global recognition of good practices.
To participate, the Group's companies around the world need to register their projects, related to three categories: Environment, Social, and Diversity & Inclusion. Thereafter, there is both an analysis and voting by a specialized jury, and a vote among COLAM's family shareholders.
The 2021 edition of the award had 31 initiatives registered, and the project "Plano de Assistência à ONG Expedicionários da Saúde", registered by Sonepar Brasil, was the big winner in the shareholders' vote.
The project involved a major contribution and support to communities in vulnerable situations during the COVID-19 pandemic throughout 2020. It started with the development of the luminotechnical project and the supply of electrical materials and fixtures for the field hospital in Campinas, which assisted more than 600 people at the peak of the pandemic. The project then continued with the assembly and donation of 10,000 kits with electrical materials and PPE to make the campaign wards in isolated regions of the Amazon feasible. More than 750 indigenous communities were covered with this service, benefiting more than 23,000 people.
The initiative counted on the direct contribution of three Sonepar companies in Brazil: Dimensional, Eletronor and Nortel, in addition to employees truly engaged with the cause.
The award was received and celebrated last September 24.
We thank for the recognition and congratulate everyone involved in this great initiative!
